FAQs

Do I need to book in advance?
Yes, online booking in advance is required. This helps us prepare the best kimono selection and arrange experienced dressers for your time slot — especially during cherry blossom and autumn leaf seasons when we are fully booked days ahead.

Can I walk to Kiyomizu-dera from the store?
Yes. The Kiyomizu Store is about a 5-minute walk from Kiyomizu-dera's west gate. The Gion Yasaka Store is a pleasant 15-minute walk to Kiyomizu-dera via Ninenzaka slopes.

What if I'm tall or plus-size?
We carry kimono for a wide range of body types. Women from 140cm to 175cm, and men from 155cm to 190cm can be accommodated. Plus-size options are also available — ask staff in store.

Is hair styling included?
Basic hair styling is included with all women's plans (choose from 5 styles). Upgraded hairstyles are available at the store for an additional fee. Men's plans do not include hair styling.

Can I change my plan after booking?
Absolutely. You can change or upgrade your plan for free at the store — no need to decide your final plan when reserving online.

Is luggage storage available?
Yes, free luggage storage is included with your rental. Leave your bags at the store while you explore in kimono.

Can I wear kimono in winter / summer?
Yes. In summer we recommend yukata (light cotton). In winter, awase kimono with thermal layers and coats are available. Staff will help you choose the right option for the season.

What happens if I return late?
If the final return time (17:00) is exceeded, a delay fee of ¥1,000 will be added for next-day return. Free overnight return with no extra fee is available if confirmed in advance with staff.

Can I rent on a rainy day?
Yes. We provide umbrellas and rain covers for zori sandals. Rainy days mean fewer crowds at the temples for photos.

Do I need to speak Japanese?
Not at all. Our staff speak English, Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Japanese. All signs and instructions are available in multiple languages.
